“This isn’t fair.” I whispered, but I wasn’t sure which situation I was referring to anymore; mine or hers. “This isn’t fair. You didn’t deserve this.” And there it was, the age old question, the one that caused so much pain and loathing and confusion and anger. Why do bad things always happen to the undeserving?

It always starts with a phone call. Will Richards hadn't been a doting father; that much is obvious. But when he gets a phone call from his estranged ex-wife, she gives him a choice that will change his whole life. Riddled with regrets and a new found sense of familial commitment he leaves his life shared with a new woman and raced headlong into a world full of memories, stories and a quest for forgiveness.

Then comes the second phone call. Decidedly more cryptic than the first, and certainly not meant for his ears, Will suddenly finds himself faced with yet another decision, this one not quite as clear cut as the one before. Somehow Will, a forty-two year old divorcee from Kent, finds himself a key player in a game of mystery and intrigue, and it may be that the only person with the answers, is the one who can never speak.
