In a vibrant and contemporary setting, "Oreo and King" follows the journey of two best friends navigating the complexities of adolescence, friendship, and self-discovery.
Oreo is a spirited and confident 17-year-old with a curvy figure, known for her quick wit and intelligence. She balances her lighthearted demeanor with moments of deep introspection, often contemplating her feelings and friendships. As she embarks on a spontaneous road trip with her best friend, Oreo reveals her adventurous side, showcasing a mix of vulnerability and strength as she faces the challenges that come their way.
King, also 17, is Oreo's laid-back and nonchalant counterpart. With his tall and athletic build, King is admired for his intelligence and calm demeanor. However, beneath his cool exterior lies a passionate and determined individual who fiercely protects his friendships. Throughout their adventures, King undergoes subtle transformations, evolving into a more assertive and self-aware person.
As they navigate new experiences, confront external conflicts, and explore the depth of their friendship, Oreo and King learn valuable lessons about trust, loyalty, and the importance of being true to themselves. The story intertwines moments of laughter, tension, and heartfelt conversations, capturing the essence of youthful camaraderie and the bittersweet journey of growing up. Together, they create unforgettable memories while learning to face their fears and uncertainties, ultimately discovering the strength of their bond.
Katelyn has been in and out of the foster system since her mother died when she was young.
After her father gets put in jail again, she gets sent to live with the Thomas family.
The Thomas's are a very well-off family with four boys. Their house is usually the main hangout for the boys and their friends. Kate hasn't ever lived with siblings before, let alone this many boys, so it's a big change for her.
Daniel is your typical high school football player; he's got the looks, the muscles, talent, and even the overbearing dad who wants him to go pro. Daniel, however, really couldn't care less about a career in football, he loves the game, but it's his dad's dream for him to go pro, not his own.
At least not anymore.
He spends most of his free time away from his house and hanging out at either the Thomas or the Copperfield house. He can't wait to go off to college with his friends and get away from his dad and the stupid little town he grew up in.
How will things change for them over the next year?
This will be a series of 4, but the other books will be spin-offs and can be read as stand-alone books. They will, however, be published in chronological order.
Full warning, this book is much shorter than I intend on making the spin-offs. I was planning on writing book two as the first in the series but found myself needing more of a prequel to all three other books, and so I chose to write something from their high school years. Bonus points for giving Daniel a love interest that was more than just a name.
