    Life in the Kingdom of Night is hard for Gemstone, particularly beacause she's a hybrid - A SeaWing NightWing hybrid. She is a seer and a mind reader, but despite this 'position', the other NightWings still treat her almost as if she where Prince Arctic, even though he died over two thousand years ago  and the Night Kingdom and the Ice Kingdom being at peace for over six years. Her mother dies in a fight over territory, leaving Gemstone alone with her father, Bonecrusher.
