Tony stark had called Thor down from Asgard to help the avengers since he noticed Charlie; his daughter, was acting off. By asking for files/documents and training more often than usual. He called door down so he could help investigate with the rest of the avengers to see if it was nothing or something deeper.
Loki, thors brother who had attacked Earth specifically New York two years ago was invited by Thor to prove himself better to the Avengers by helping them investigate. Thor also knew Charlie was close with Loki as she helped him during the attacking so they had somewhat of a connection or bond.
Loki did miss Charlie so he agreed to go to earth with him, when they arrived they were met with something far worse than Charlie not acting normal...

"Her name is Hela," he replied, watching the infant lose interest in the shield and move onto something else. Hela looked up at the mention of her name and the same grin came across her face. The smile reminded the Avengers of Loki, it was clearly obvious. The child seemed more innocent, but she was clearly his daughter. It didn't take a genius to know what they were about to do. Loki comes to earth seeking redemption by himself. Of his own free will. But what happens when the Avengers find him helping old people across the busy streets of New york. Everyone on the street runs in fear. The old lady he was helping pats him on the arm and thanks him. Much to the Avengers surprise. Now there's this huge fight going on. Civilians are running in every direction trying to get away from the fight. Some are getting caught in the middle so Loki tries his best to get them away. But the Avengers thinking he's trying to hold a hostage makes the situation even worse. Now Loki needs to get the civilian out of the way and defend himself. He cast a shield around himself and the people. Teleporting the people away he drops the shield . "Listen to me!" Loki groaned as the Avengers ignored his pleas. "What did you do?!" There was so much going on he didn't even see who asked the question. He just answered without thinking."Nothing! You people are the ones that attacked first. As I was helping someone! What if they had gotten hurt?!" The Avengers faltered for just a second before straightening their resolve. As the fight went on Loki was getting tired of their incompetence. "Stop!" Loki yelled heavily out of breath. All the Avengers were frozen by Loki's magic. Even the almighty Thor. "You so-called avengers just attacked me unprovoked, risked multiple lives, and won't even listen to what I have to say." He turned to Thor. "But this must seem normal to you my "dear brother" seeing how this is just like the old days." There was a few minutes of silence before anything happened. People started to flood the streets again. Trying to get a glimpse at the action. "Now since I don't want any trouble, I'll come with you without a fight. Like I would have done before had you not shot at my ass! Now I'm going to drop the spell. But don't you dare fire at me!"
