Florence has lived in captivity for seventeen years. She was created with the purpose of being an unhuman-human, with all the beauty and mental ability of a person, but with the strength and lack of emotion of an unnatural being. When the experiment took an unexpected turn, Florence was left dependent on daily injections of oxidiphonate, or Sub-D, an extremly rare chemical substance that would cripple most. If she doesn't take it, she will die, and take several people with her. Her creator, Dr. Stephens, decides she must learn to live on her own, forcing her into public school, where she meets Duke, the captain of the soccer team with a bad reputation. Together, the explore the realms of human nature, something Florence had never done before. Soon, she learns the supply of Sub-D is dwindling, and of the risks she would have to go through to get it. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise. They used my vulnerability against me. They used that weapon, to make me accept their stupid idea. And I of course, accepted it, I didn't even know what they were going to do. They tugged and poked and even shoved their disgusting finger in your wound, just to see you cry. To see you change. No pitty in their eyes. They just continue. They drag you around with metal chains, hit you and turn you into a experiment. But I had enough of the tugging, the clawing, the moaning, the crying and pleading for them to stop, but simply feeding them with our pain. They turned me into something, that neither do they know what I am. Their afraid of me, of my reflexes, my strength. I killed a lot of them. They say I have a cold heart, that I don't feel nothing. That's why they call me: Death -----------------------------------------************************************--------------------------------------------- Death. A teen girl, pitch black hair, black eyes, white skin. Her height is 5'8. People are scared of her, not just because of her strength but because of they way she kills. That is, until Caleb remembers the reason that he tried to commit suicide in the first place, revealing a secret that shatters his new found confidence. As things at home begin to deteriorate too, Caleb’s situation goes from bad to worse. The only person who knows the truth, Dr Palmer, leaves him to stand on his own two feet, declaring him cured. He starts back at college full time, and becomes ever closer with Stephanie, the only person whom he feels that he can trust. When his own father attacks his mother, Caleb begins to think that the police are on to him, trying to unravel his past, thinking that they have realised what happened to cause him to try to commit suicide. However, they are just trying to build a case against his father. In desperation, Caleb tried to reach out to Dr Palmer, against the advice of his mother. As his life spirals out of control, Dr Palmer makes him realise that the only way he can carry on is to come clean and reveal his secret. In a shocking final twist, everything is revealed to be not what it seems, and Caleb finds out that he will be ok, no matter what happens to him.
