Izuku Midorya was once a Yagi but due to him being mistreated due to the fact that he was diagnosed quirkless. He was saved by his real father Hisashi Midoriya, and he left Japan. Izuku came back to Japan to attend UA with a quirk, but he didn't forgive his past or his mother. After the exhibit matches with 1B, UA decided to give the students a talent show where they can perform. Katsuki Bakugo being a douche he placed Izuku's name on the list, and when his name came.
