In a small northeastern town in America lives a 'girl-going-on-grownup' named Ruth Harrison. A senior in highschool, she has most of her big decisions made, and has a busy routine life. Considered  'not normal' for society's standards of today, she stands out a little, but not too much, being well liked by many in her class.
Kim Daehyun is an escapee from North Korea, wanting nothing to do with the red, white, and blue of the 'Giant of the West'. Still heavily influenced by his culture's ideals, he speaks to no one, and openly resists his English lessons. Given the nickname 'Echo', he is seen as this product of brainwashing, echoing only what his leader says.
