For Shannon Montgomery, nothing ever goes her way. Well she's not used to things going right most of the time. In October of her freshman year of high school, her dad's job relocated their family to Manhattan, New York. Now, that was not where she wanted to be spending her high school years, but what choice did she have. Never in her life did she think that someone would find her attractive when she moved to New York, but one person did. His name, Noah Riley. But he wasn't anything that Shannon wanted. He was the popular jock that all the girls fell in love with. Except Shannon. She found her clique in a matter of weeks, but Noah couldn't get Shannon out of his head. Her freshman year wasn't anything she wanted, parties, cool friends, pretty clothes, and a hot guy who liked her, a lot. But what if it was what she wanted, she just didn't know it yet.

Riley's past isn't something most kids go through. Bad things happened, but when she got older, her dad decided it was best to move, and get away from something that seemed to haunt Riley. They moved from Arizona to California. About 1/4 into her junior year, Riley had to go to a new school, and make new friends. She didn't really care about having friends though, as long as she was able to play soccer, she would be okay. Soccer had always been there for her, when her mom died, when she didn't have anyone else, when she was in a bad mood. It was always there for her to play. She didn't need anyone else. That changed when she met Brooke Eckmann. Brooke is also a junior in high school, and is the varsity teams goalie. When they first meet on the field, it was something different. She couldn't stop thinking about her. It was something both of them had never felt before.
