Adam's obsessed because she didn't leave him for Lucifer, that she showed concern for him, and listened to him. 

When Adam demands to know why she left; she answers the riddle she gave him. Adam finally understanding that she was never supposed to meet him, but then coming to the conclusion that God did want her to be his new Wife and Companion. And Adam will do everything in his power to be sure that she becomes his. No matter what!
