Ever since Ashlyn was 13 she hasn't been able to believe in love. Why you may ask? Her life has been surrounded with commitments that have been broken. It all started when her dad's dad left his mother when he was little, and everything else went downhill from that. Ashlyn's dad left his girlfriend after she gave birth to her first sister Koral. He then got another woman pregnant about a year later, creating her second sister Lilly. When koral was very little her father met a young women, who happened to be Ashlyn's mother. She thought she was in love with my father. Soon later she got pregnant with me and my twin sister, Avery. Everything was perfect. Until she got pregnant again at the age of 20 with my sister Isabelle. Due to the recent pregnancies she did not have time to heal properly and almost died. A couple weeks before Ashlyn, and Avery turned 13 they were informed that koral had gotten pregnant at 18. Due to the chaos of her life, she began to rebel. Now, at 17 she keeps herself in a tight shell. She makes sure not to get close to people, wearing spunky clothes, and swearing to keep up her appearance, but what if one simple boy can slowly tear those walls down.

While others find love, my beauty has been a barrier to genuine connection; I yearn to finally hope, dream, and love like everyone else" Life was never easy for Maya, who was abandoned by her birth parents as an infant and left to wonder why. She had no family besides her uncle, a caring man who rescued her from an orphanage when she was ten. He has been her only friend and mentor ever since. Her world shifted in junior high, transforming a good life into a living hell. Ever since, Maya has been plagued by anxiety and an inability to trust.
