Pinky Promise

"Pinky promise me," Eden playfully demanded as she reached down to grab Tyler's hand. Tyler scrunched her face and held up her hands as a sign of innocence.
"Pinky promise?" She laughed, "isn't that something we stopped doing in like, grade 2," she snorted.
"Come on Ty! Just do it!" She protested until finally Tyler hooked her finger through Eden's.
They stared at each other for few seconds before bursting out in laughter, they collapsed on the warm sand laughing and giggling. The sun glowed in the afternoons sky sending rays of light complimenting their sun kissed skin and sandy hair.

Finally they settled and laid side by side on the sand staring up into space.
"You know you can tell me anything, Ty, you know that right?" Eden glanced over to her best friend as she dug her feet into the sand. Tyler kept her gaze upwards.
"Of course I do Ed!" She nudged her, causing a chuckle as a reply.
"Here for each other no matter what." They said in sync, their voices blended and harmonised.
Both girls chatted and laughed until their voices trailed off with the calm wind as the sun started to set. The glow silhouetted their figures as it took cover behind some clouds, just a typical afternoon.

Eden and Tyler have been best friends since primary school, never letting anything get in their way of their friendship, 'pinkie swearing' they would support each other through anything - no matter what. They couldn't imagine life without each other, but what if one of theirs was taken.
