Overcoming Challenges in Pursuing Education
Leena faced many hurdles when she wanted to continue her education, as her family initially resisted the idea. However, she convinced them to let her pursue an engineering degree. After working as an engineer for six months, she realized it wasn't the career path she wanted and decided to study management at XLRI, Jamshedpur, which again required convincing her family.
A Shift to Human Resources
Leena had always excelled in subjects like math, physics, and chemistry, and her parents encouraged her to become an engineer. But during her studies, a mentor noticed her talent for working with people and suggested she explore a career in human resources (HR). This advice resonated with her, and she recognized her passion for understanding human behavior and managing people.
After graduating as an engineer, she worked in factories and labs on various projects, including developing picture-in-picture televisions. However, she realized she needed a career change to advance professionally. Following her intuition and purpose, Leena decided to study human resources at XLRI, Jamshedpur, and traveled 48 hours by train to enroll in the program.
Her people skills and leadership qualities have played a major role in her success, ultimately leading her to the prestigious role of CEO at Chanel.
