"No... no... this can't be happening," she whispered, her voice cracking before she collapsed to her knees, tears streaming down her face. Just then, the door creaked open. He walked in. The moment she saw him, she sprang to her feet, stormed towards him, and grabbed his collar. Her eyes blazed with fury and betrayal. "You cheated me! You trapped me in this marriage!" she shouted, her voice trembling with rage. "You manipulated me, married me, and now this?" she yelled, thrusting the test in front of his face. He stared at it in confusion, but as his eyes registered the two pink lines, understanding dawned. Slowly, a smile spread across his face. She's pregnant... She's carrying my baby... I'm going to be a father. His heart raced with happiness. His plan had worked. She threw the kit to the floor and began pounding her fists against his chest, sobbing, "Why? Why did you do this to me? What did I ever do to deserve this? You've ruined my life! I hate you... I hate you! And I will never forgive you!" A twisted, guilty joy stirred in his chest. As much as it hurt to see her like this, a selfish part of him felt victorious. He couldn't bear the thought of losing her-so he did what he had to do.
