But the heart, in all its reckless foolishness, has always been drawn just as fiercely toward the things that destroy it.

Because the things that destroy us often feel indistinguishable from the things that make us feel alive.

Some things exist in quiet contradiction, beautiful in the moment, catastrophic in the aftermath. Like wildfire swallowing an entire forest in golden light. Like saltwater pressed against an open wound. Like standing at the edge of a precipice, fully aware of the fall, yet inching closer anyway simply because something within you aches for the thrill of it.
