I've always said Kitty in Pride and Prejudice was hard done by, and I figured if I ever did go ahead with a retelling, I'd start at the same place Jane began the story, but looking at the events from Kitty's point of view. What did she see? And how did she feel about it?

If you stopped by looking for Jane Austen's story, you will find that it's in the public domain and there are a number of places where you can read it without my interruptions. If you want to stay around to see where I'm going with this, my annotations with thougths and comments are interspersed with the original chapters. And if you're interested in my full retelling, A Kitty Among the Bennets, you can find it here or on aswewrite.com as I release it, chapter by chapter.

Now, fair warning: If you are an Austen purist, chances are you'll hate this. I'm not trying to channel my inner Jane, though wouldn't it be lovely if I could? No, I'm just someone with the audacity to rip all the pages out to see if I could put a different spin on the story. If the thought of that hurts your head, you should probably give it a miss.

With all that said, let's get this party started and see how the words will fall.

Despite her romance with Bennett, as she grows closer to the Calloways, Henley realizes they are somehow involved in her brother's conviction.
