In a future where a nation of slaves are rid of their wings at birth, and noble's wings are a sign of power, a deep abyss by the name of Marloch, harbors one, singular wish for the climber slaves who reach the bottom. So far, none have reached the wish.
Not yet, at least.
Kaia is a very young and small slave in the Marloch empire, and she is currently in training to be the royal family's personal slave. Her life is dull and boring, however, on Reassignment Day, she leaves the palace boundaries and her life takes a drastic turn.
Signe is a teenage slave in the Marloch empire, assisting the elderly wing-severer, Ekatris. His life is full of gore and fright, and by the time Reassignment Day comes by, the unexpected awaits.
Tuathal is a teenage noble, in a strict bloodline to become empress when her father dies. She walks along the slave streets, being indignated by lessers as they stare zealously at her wings. Little does she know, two slaves in particular are about to stir up a LOT of trouble.
