I can't help but grin as I watch Amora laugh at my comment, the sound sharp and just a little too amused. It's almost too easy, I think, but then her laughter slowly falters. Her eyes lock onto mine, dark and intense, and the corners of her mouth twitch.

"Fuck off," she says, but there's no real venom behind it. In fact, the way her eyes linger on my lips tells me she's thinking about something else entirely.

I tilt my head, keeping my grin in place. "That the best you've got?" I lean in a little closer, my voice low enough that only she can hear. "You're not fooling anyone, Amora."

She raises an eyebrow, her lips twisting into a smirk that's more dangerous than playful now. "What do you think you know about me, Acela?"

I take another sip of my drink, letting the silence stretch between us. Her eyes don't leave mine, and it's clear that whatever game we're playing tonight, it's not going to end in a draw. I don't do draws.
