When humans left Earth behind eons ago, they had no idea the galaxy would be such a dangerous place, full of pirates, conmen, and hostile alien species. Nor did they know they'd become pawns in a galactic game of strategy, intrigue, and daring, that would see empires rise and fall, and fortunes made and lost.

The Great Game.

If you're bold enough to play and risk it all, the galaxy can be yours. Or, you might walk away with little more than your life-if you're lucky enough to walk away at all.

Stasia Kincaid has never heard of the Great Game, at least not until she learns her mother died while playing it. Not only that, her mother was also the greatest space pirate who ever ruled the skies of I-space, and was on the verge of winning-before she was murdered.

When a member of the mysterious alien race known as the Denaquka approaches Stasia and asks her to take her mother's place, she sees it as a chance to avenge her mother and learn about the woman she thought she knew. Too bad she isn't entirely sure what the Game is or how to play it.

But as the Denaquka like to say: Entertain them or die.

Stasia soon learns she has no idea who to trust or just how deep the levels of manipulation go. Suddenly the difference between competitor and ally is impossible to judge. Can she trust the people she meets on her quest to win or will everyone she cares about betray her? And if she does manage to navigate through a game where the rules keep shifting, when she peels back the layers to find the truth, is she even sure she'll want the prize at the end?

Like the Hunger Games series? Then you'll love ''Man Hunt'' When Alice awakes in a small, bare room with nothing more than a letter, a backpack, a change of clothes and some survival gear, she doesn't know what to expect. She has no recollection of how she got to where she is, or even where she is and she can't help but feel frightened about the whole situation. According to the letter addressed to her name, her parents signed her up for a new televised game show in which twelve teenagers will be split into two equal teams. The teenagers will then take part in a slightly modified version of a childhood game they are all quite familiar with for the chance to win a sum of €1,000,000 for every member of the winning team. When Alice meets the rest of her group, they soon realise that they are stranded on an island and they have no other option but to cooperate. They quickly find the instructions and map their team has been supplied with and are forced to begin a game which they fear is darker than it may seem. The twelve teenagers can't be any more different, however they must push their divergence aside and hope that they have what it takes to win the game and return home with the money that could change their lives forever. In a tale of adventure, action and deceit; do Alice and her team have what it takes to leave the island as champions or is there a more sinister fate in store for them? Is this really just a game as their letters describe, or are there darker forces at work behind closed doors?

MC: Here's a How Not to Survive a Hostage Situation: Don't be me. Rule#1 Don't meet a guy fighting against cutlery. Rule#2 Don't get mistaken for someone with talent when you've absolutely none. Rule#3 Don't let a war, a high-stakes revenge plot, and one human weapon disguised as a person wreck your already failing life. (Oh, and don't expect me to tell you my name. You'll have to earn that.) But if you do? Congrats. You're now in my position-trapped, bleeding, and somehow still expected to be the sane one. Trowa: You're not the sane one. MC: Okay, first of all-rude. Second of all, enter Trowa. Trowa: Don't enter me into this. MC: Sigh. He's a questionable ally who moves people like chess pieces. Trowa: Incorrect. I don't play chess with lives. I just... redecorate the board when necessary. MC: Yeah. That's so much better. He plans. I panic. Together, we're one bad decision away from death. Trowa: Two. I have contingencies. MC: Oh, great. So we die second. Fantastic. And if we survive this, I'm going to need therapy. Trowa: You need therapy even if we don't. ################################## She was supposed to be a bystander. Now, she's bleeding in the middle of a war she doesn't understand. A single step-wrong place, wrong time-and now she's entangled in a brutal game of shifting alliances, weaponized secrets, and people who treat lives like collateral. She wanted quiet. Instead, she's dodging kidnappers, advanced tech, and a human weapon in the shape of a too-strategic ally. The worst part? She is not important-just unlucky. And in this kind of game, even those important don't survive long. ################################## For fans of sarcastic narrators, bad decisions, and humor that's basically Percy Jackson... if he grew up, got more cynical, bled more, and forgot how to run away. ##################################

I buried it with the silence and the distant looks. I desperately wanted us to go back to being friends, before all the feelings showed up, before he embarrassed me in front of half the school by dismissing any chance at us being together. ~o~ Evelyn Martinez has had her heart broken exactly once, by Liam Saunders.
