The moon hung heavy in the night sky, casting shadows across the deserted street. Gabriel's eyes locked onto Eliza's, their intensity undeniable. His voice was a whisper, a dangerous growl. "You have no idea what I'm capable of."
Eliza met his gaze, her heart racing. "I know exactly what you are," she whispered back, her body trembling, but her voice steady.
A dark smile curled on Gabriel's lips. "Then you should know, love, the choice you made isn't something you can escape from."
Eliza's breath hitched, her desire for him battling the fear that crept into her chest. "I'm not afraid of you."
"You should be," he murmured, his lips grazing her ear, sending a shiver down her spine. "Because when I'm done with you, you won't recognize yourself."
Her pulse quickened as his fingers brushed against her neck, pulling her closer. "The game has already begun, Eliza," he said, his voice dripping with menace. "And you're already mine."
She wanted to push him away, but something deep inside her knew she never would. The danger, the passion-it was too much. She was already lost to him.
To the world he was a beast but for her he would do anything.
He could have the world but all he wanted was her.
They say the things we want most are the things we can't have.
For she was so afraid of him that even the thought of him could have her running for the hills.
Little did she know that she was the only one who didn't have to be afraid of him.
