The stories we tell our children contribute to an important part of our child's life. Stories are packets of experiences. They are doorways to the past, to the future, to people's experiences, to possibilities, to magical worlds and so on. They are vibrant with imagery, sounds, textures, all woven together by imagination. Stories help develop imagination, logical thinking, a deeper connection with the places, people, values depicted in the stories. These stories are narrated to children by parents, grandparents, relatives and educators. To keep children engaged in preschool and daycare we use story telling to cultivate moral values in them. At Aajol, we make sure to narrate moralistic stories to children so that they can reflect on what is the moral of the story? We dedicate ourselves towards child development by placing small lessons via different preschool activities that makes us the best preschool in Pune. Children pick up many things from stories- how to behave, how to speak, how to respond to certain events, what to expect, how to relate to others, to the world and so on. When we look at the stories that are told to children through generations, we may be able to identify stories or certain aspects of stories which do not align with healthy values. It becomes vital for us to filter out stories that do not teach humanistic values. It's not necessary for a story to be moralistic only. Stories can be snippets of interactions you have (eg. with your friends or relatives), the journeys you make (eg. going to the office or vegetable shop), the things you make (eg. food), an imaginary, magical world you create, trips you take, your childhood memories you recall and so on. Let's all be mindful of what messages we convey in our stories in households, preschool and daycare. Our preschool in Pune has developed the LearnCare model for early childhood education using storytelling techniques and other pedagogies, developing customized learning experience for your child.
