PLANETARY Z

In the most extreme circumstances conceivable, where a worldwide legion of the undead reigns, a band of encamped survivors seeks shelter in a bastion. Bunkered and besieged, they go on with their daily routine, ever so blissfully dumb, until the spear point comes: the origin of the affliction was due to a belligerent scientific experiment aimed at enhancing human beings. Under extreme tensions within the group, the loyalty of each player is questioned and unpleasant truths come forth.

In searching for treatment, the main character stumbles upon an underground laboratory with documents indicating that zombies can avail one's memories of the previous life. As the tension that creates this conflict eases, the remaining people face a different idea - do they continue fighting to preserve themselves, or attempt to rid themselves of the ache of the loss of humanity?

The story's high point occurs just when there appears a glimmer of hope: The survivors are presented with a broadcast stating that the government will initiate an operation to cleanse the area of all humans to prevent the outbreak from spreading. While gearing up for the last battle, the main character inquires, 'If saving humanity means transforming into dead, is it worth saving?'
