Twenty-two-year-old Shelby Fleming is struck down by a wayward delivery van on her way to the Miss Sunflower Pageant and meets up with her ex-boyfriend, Troy Matthews, in the Afterlife. Not only does she have to come to terms with her life ending way too soon, but she also has to learn how to navigate the Temporary Haunt Program - ghosts filling in for other ghosts while they take vacations or visit their relatives in Spokane. Shelby was used to having many friends, but in the Afterlife no one seems interested in anyone's opinions unless they've dead for at least a hundred years. So not only is her life over but she's struck with Troy and even dead her feelings for him aren't exactly straightforward.
It's a good thing they're both dead or otherwise they're liable to kill one another.

Here's a preview: I was awoken to a loud siren. I heard a loud pounding. “Vi?! Vi?!?! Are you there?!?!?!” I could barely hear him but I can tell that he was screaming at the top of his lungs. I got up and ran to the door and opened it. “Noah?! What the fuck is going on?!” I screamed. “I can’t hear you!!” He screamed back. The siren was too loud. I signed it out for him. He signed back that some wolfies broke into the camp. We ran to the kitchen and got some food and water. We stuffed it into our duffle bags. It seemed like it would last us about a month or so. We ran to the Hummer and we were off. I check my watch, it was 10 AM. I slept for a good 4 hours. I checked the rear view mirror to see if anyone was following. I only came to the city to earn some money, so that I could help the people who remain in my home town. Who can't leave even if they wanted to. If they try the city poeple just send them back. "There's no room here for people like you." They would say. You had to have some real skills if you were able to come to the city and stay. I came here to work, and now I am being dragged to a place with flashly lights by a guy I don't even like. He is creepy, shelf-centered, and overall harsh to everyone around him.
