Tori entered Jack’s office. Jack was leaning up against his desk, looking clean cut, lean, and expecting her.

“I just wanted to say thank you,” she whispered.

Jack smiled faintly, “Well, it’s not really like I had a choice…” Jack trailed off, memories of how Tori had thrown him up against the autopsy room wall with a knife to his throat flashed across his mind.

Tori frowned, not amused, “No, I could’ve killed you, but it wouldn’t have mattered. You would’ve come back, and Rebecca would’ve died. It wouldn't have changed anything.”

Moving his lips to Tori’s ear, Jack whispered, “Sorry, but you’ve got it wrong.”

Tori stared at him and opened her mouth to protest when Jack held a finger to her lips, “You could’ve just slit my throat right then and there; you still would’ve gotten my blood and it would’ve been a lot easier then forcing me to comply.” Jack shook his head, “And of course Rebecca and I are the only two with type AB positive blood in the team, it’s only the least common blood type in the world,” Jack grumbled sarcastically.

Rolling her eyes in annoyance, Tori bit Jack’s finger. He jumped and pulled it away quickly. “Still… Thank you,” she said, and walked out of the room.

“No need to thank me... I’d do anything for you.” Jack said to thin air.
