When a hotel visitor asked her to throw away a journal, Mever instead sent the book to the real owner. AL, who had not received a letter from his family and friends for a long time, was deeply moved by Mever's letter. He promised to grant any wish she asked. Coincidentally, Mever's literature teacher asked the class to write a letter to a stranger, befriend that stranger, and with the stranger's consent, read that inspiring letter to the class. Mever asked Al to do exactly that.
