Using highly-saturated steam under pressure, autoclaving is effective in eliminating micro-organisms and spores from lab instruments. Plastic pipette tips should be autoclaved as waste inside biohazard bags. Additionally, micropipettes and bottle top dispensers can be sterilized at 121°C, 15 psi, for 15-20 minutes to maintain a sterile working environment.
