"Convert your walls to bridges. They may be your only way out or someone else's only way in..."

Von is a seventeen year old Caribbean girl who travels to New York to forget her bitter past. Being almost raped at the age of 12 is not something you want to remember, especially when nobody believes that you were almost raped but rather that you seduced the man.
After having a rough life and no one to care for her for many years, Von thought that moving in with her mother and younger brother was going to change her life; it did as a matter of fact changed her life, just not in the way that she expected it to. Von moved to New York looking for love and acceptance, and instead she found unpleasantness, one challenge after another, and events that changed her life forever.
Along her journey, Von finds true love for the first time; but, would she be able to identify it? And if she does, would she make some space in her baggage for it, or would she decide that she is already carrying enough? Accompany Von in her journey, and discover The Things She Carried.
