Angelina Donovan had a rough childhood... if you could even call it that. Her father abandoned his family when she was five years old, and her mother became distant, always disappearing or was passed out drunk. Angelina was left to take care of her younger siblings, to step up into the role her mother failed to fill.

Despite juggling between being a parent and a student, Angelina managed to maintain a good GPA and was able to apply for her top choice of universities. The only problem? It was a seven hour drive away.

She was able to defer a year so she could make sure her siblings were capable of raising themselves. They weren't that much younger than she was, her sister being eighteen and brother sixteen. So she didn't feel half as bad when she left town, and was actually quite eager to begin her new life away from home.

She had only planned to move for school. Her program was four years long, plus another three to seven years if she wanted to continue pursuing her career as a doctor. But, Angelina had made a life there. She made friends, got an amazing deal for rent on an apartment, and even managed to score her first ever boyfriend. She never wanted to leave.

Unfortunately, things didn't exactly go to plan as the moment she received a phone call from her hometown's sheriff, her entire world shatters and she was quick to return home to Mystic Falls.
