Angelina Donovan never got to experience a happy childhood. Her father left when she was five, leaving her mother to raise three children alone. Well, not really. She too, was also absent which left Angelina to take care of her two younger siblings. She became their mother, getting a job at fourteen as a dishwasher at the local diner to help with groceries and other necessities.

But despite taking care of her siblings, she still had time to study and get good grades, graduating high school with a scholarship to the university her eye was set on. Only problem? It was in New Orleans. Thankfully her brother and sister were old enough to take care of themselves so she didn't feel as bad as she would have when she left, renting an apartment in the downtown region of the infamous voodoo town.

Angelina had wanted to stay longer than the five years she's been there, finishing medical school and the first year of her residency. But after receiving a devastating call from her brother, she decided to return to her home town of Mystic Falls. Good thing the hospital there was in need of a doctor or two.
