Lauren Bailey met Jose (JJ) Juarez when she was just 16 years old, at a time she really needed someone. Her father had basically given up on life after the love of his life died by his hands, indirectly. Lauren was 9 years old when she lost her mother, Brenda, leaving her to practically raise herself as her father, Lorenzo, couldn't get over the hand he played in her death. Lauren was smart, very smart to be exact. She attended high school and attended college courses at a community college located in downtown Chicago to stay ahead of the game. She was determined to land a scholarship to take her away from southside of Chicago. Lorenzo tried his best to do right by his daughter, but smoking weed and drinking everyday wasn't really helping him keep a job. Lauren needed help, otherwise she was going to drown right along with her father and she was determined to float. Jose comes in and saves Lauren at her lowest point, making promises to Lauren without her knowing of his motives. She was looking for someone to save her; he was looking for someone to mold. 15 years later, not only did Jose come through on his promises he made to Lauren, he's now her husband. Lauren is a kept woman, with anything and everything she ever wanted, yet she knows something just doesn't feel right. She notices Jose doesn't seem as interested in her as before and he spends more time away with his businesses than before. Things begin to turn when Jose expects Lauren to accept someone he brings into their life that needs help, just like she did. Lauren feels there's more to it than Jose is willing to reveal. Lauren decides to hire a private investigator to get answers to her questions. Nathaniel "Philly" Boyd takes the case and finds out Jose is involved in a lot of illegal deals as well as another woman. Philly knows Lauren deserves better, he just needs to get her to realize it. Will Lauren find out the truth? Will Lauren decide to open her eyes and live her life without Jose?

"So when you gon' stop playing and let me hit that shit, Zuria?" Mitch asked while he smoked a blunt in my mother's living room and we both sat on the floor. "Let you hit this?" I asked, raising an eyebrow as I watched him blow smoke into the air. "Yeah." He smirked, cockily. "How about when you learn how to talk to your girlfriend?" I took the blunt out of this hands and smashed it on the ashtray that was on the coffee table. "Whatchu do that for?" He bit his bottom lip, leaning into me. "Hm?" He went on, softly biting my neck. "I've told you, you can't smoke in here, Mitchell." "You're really not even supposed to be here." I said to him, considering my mother did not condone boys in her house but here he was. He'd completely ignored me though as he mushed his head into my neck, leaving small kisses. "Stop." I whined playfully as he pushed himself up onto me and kissed my lips, pushing me backwards with our lips still attached. "Mitch." I spoke nervously as he climbed on top of me while I now laid my back onto the carpet. "Let me hit that shit, ma." He spoke softly into my ear as he continued leaving kisses on my neck. "Mitch, we cant. My mom will be home from work soon." I expressed to him but he ran his hands up my school skirt anyway. "Stop bitchin'." "Let me finally pop that cherry, Z." He spoke, putting his lips on mine as he slowly moved my underwear aside and rubbed his fingers against my Girl. "Mm." I moaned, unfamiliar with this feeling but it felt great. And though I knew my mother would be here soon, I no longer wanted to stop. He continued rubbing it as I laid there, looking up into his eyes. As I did, he smirked down at me and I smiled small, rubbing a hand down his cheek. I was so in love with this boy.
