as you approach a year since will's disappearance, things seem to be back to how they were. you still have jonathan and the boys, hawkins is boring again, and you and steve have grown closer since last year, you have developed feelings for him, without knowing he has feelings for you, but out of respect for being in a relationship with nancy still so it's an awkward situation for him and you but you both don't mention it, again out of respect for nancy.
you convince yourself that it's fine, but time can't heal all wounds, and you sure as hell have your fair share of them. when will starts having episodes and your brother hides a literal monster from you, junior year becomes a lot more painful than it already was.
and because you can never win, and poor steve gets dragged into it thanks to dustin not wanting to tell you at first.

Steve can't lose her, they only kissed a couple hours earlier, he had to make sure she really liked him and she didn't just kiss him because of what he said about that dream.
