There are two realms, the ones of the humans, and the ones of the Anthros. Dan lives an ordinary life until he comes to contact with a human-like wolf in the forest, both of their lives being changed completely, a mating bond snapping into place ensuring them being stuck with each other. Ezra thought his grades would get him posted to a place in the Navy that reflected his ability, something like First Fleet, the Raiding Nine, or even Home Guard. Humanity's enemy the Preshk where attacking more often and Ezra wanted to be contributing directly to the war effort. Instead he got put on a Scout ship with just one other soul and sent on a five month mission out into deep space. The mission quickly becomes more than the young commander could have ever expected and the fate of humanity lies in how fast he can return back to humanity.
