In the meantime, a sudden inheritance from one of your ancestors, Robert Smirke, leads you to come in contact with a painting of one of his closest friends, a certain Jonah Magnus. Smirke has been dead for at least a century, and Magnus should be as well, but there's something in his painted eyes that draws you in...

It's Friday the 13th. Magnus is late for work. Again because of his cat. He's locking up his apartment when he gets a phone call that he's been fired. Alec was supposed to move into his new apartment that day, but the landlord left him the wrong key. Alec has been sitting on the stairs outside the apartment for an hour and a half. This is the moment when their paths cross. NOTE: So it all started when I saw this picture. I immediately put aside the other 2 stories I was writing, and started this one.
