Aaron Hotchner x OC

"Dani. Are you hurt?" Emily asked. Hotch let go of you and his eyes roamed up and down your body.

"No, no, I'm fine. It's the victim's blood. Half of him was propped up in the closet and he fell on me. The other half was down stairs. It's not consistent with the profile he wasn't posed like the others. This was for me. He wanted me to find him." You said to Emily. She nodded but looked at Hotch.

"I think that you are right, Dani. Let's head back and the forensics team can handle this." He said, opening the door. You followed out to the SUV and got in the front seat. Emily stayed at the scene as other police cars pulled up. You shut the door and looked out the windshield. Hotch got in the seat and turned on the ignition. He started to drive and went right past the precinct.

"You missed the turn." It wasn't a mistake, you knew that. "Hotch..."

"I don't want you to go back there." He admitted.

"Why? He's surrounded by fifty other people and he can't do anything." You looked down.

"You feel threatened. Your hand has been on your gun since we left. You have been checking the mirror every-"

"Stop." You cut him off but he kept going.

"You haven't cleaned the blood off your face or body but your hands. You think that this is your fault for not seeing it sooner-"

"STOP." You yelled. "We made a promise. We don't profile each other. You know that! It's low, so low, and invasive and-and" He pulled over and stopped the car.

 "Just please..."

"What? Please what?" He said. This time holding eye contact.

"Please don't do this to me. Not you."

To prevent themselves from repeating past mistakes Emily proposed an arrangement. And they agreed- It was just sex, purely physical, devoid of any lingering emotions or attachments. However they also acknowledged that it would eventually come to an end. They agreed that once one of them met someone new, they would stop. Aaron eventually did and was ready to move on. Weeks later, Emily took several unexplained days off, leaving Aaron confused when she finally returned, she acted coldly, making it clear that she no longer wished to be around him. "Look, there's been some kind of misunderstanding, all right?" The woman before her pleaded, her voice cracking as the machines beside her beeped, seemingly louder with each passing minute. JJ knew she was okay. The team had been told as much by the doctors, but still. She looked helpless in that hospital bed. Small. Scared. JJ hated it. "I- I don't know what happened." "I know." JJ sighed. The woman before her scoffed. "And yet, I'm still here. You're still here. Interrogating me like I'm some... Like I'm some... I'm innocent! I didn't- I- I didn't do anything." "I'm not here to interrogate you." JJ said, her tone soft but firm as it usually was with... With the victims of other cases. She sighed again as she stepped further into the room and closer to the hospital bed. "I'm here to interview you. To understand." "There's nothing to understand." She cried, her distress evident in her tone and the way she brought an arm closer to her chest while her nails scratched at her skin. JJ took notice of it. JJ knew it wasn't like her to keep her nails undone for too long. She wasn't vain - not anymore than JJ herself was - but if there was one thing she always made a point of having done, it was her nails. "I don't even know what happened."
