[Eleanora's Sundown book 2]

What does it take to just trust? To take a leap of faith every now and then?

Eleanora has been living under a veneer of newfound cynicism and a jaded view of human nature, too hurt to even dare moving forward. But what if there was a way out? Can a star shine bright enough to cast some light on her path?

A soul cannot be broken, as every new crack is just mended with gold.

▶ Kiana: For the past handful of years, hiding behind anonymous words suited me just fine. I could twist them, expressing myself, and know that people found something of themselves when they were sung. But anonymity is no longer possible. As much as I want to, I can't keep my head buried in the sand and ignore everything around me. Ignore the past and its importance. I'm stepping out of the shadows, in part because I don't have a choice. The other part, though... Because I want to take the plunge and see what's on the other side. Most of all, find my heart again and get things right this time around. However, it's soon apparent that not everyone is in agreement with this new development. I guess I'll see just how many potholes I'll find during this journey. ▶ Duncan: Most people think I have everything I want. Most people also don't know the first thing about me, just what's out there, what I allow them to know. They don't know that fame and money means nothing without the family I've made. The family that's been incomplete for years. However... It doesn't mean I'm a happy camper when that changes, when the missing piece appears out of nowhere. First, because it forces me to face all the feelings, good and bad, that I've tried to push down. Second, because she's not quite the same... But that's okay. And third, because someone thinks they can mess with her, with us. In the end of the day, there's one thing that's as sure as the sun rising every morning: nothing and no one is stepping between me and Kiana this time. Not on my watch. 🏆300 × Adult × 11/17/20 🏆67 × Romantic Suspense × 11/30/2020 Book one in the Toxic Climax series. Dual POV, second-chance love story. 5k-word chapters on Fridays. "You have no idea how badly I want to make love to you," he responds with a shake of his head. "I love you so much," he continues and my heart melts. "I love you," I whisper back. "Okay, I'm going to make love to you now, Angel. It will hurt a little, so let me know if it hurts too much," he says and leans down to kiss me. "I'll be gentle," he tells me. Keeping his eyes locked on mine he shifts his hips forward slightly and enters inside of me. My mouth widens as he enters, and I feel a slight pinch. He was right, it does hurt, but it's not terrible. "Christ! You're the sun!" he calls out. I watch his face crumble. He buries his face in my neck and then he's above me again, his hands on my cheeks again. ... For 20 year old Alison Scott, love was never something she deemed herself worthy of.
