Hyunjin could only shake his head in defeat, his exasperation replaced by a small grin. "Yeah, I do. But for the love of all things holy, could you try to give someone a chance? Just once?"

Minho didn't respond right away, his mind drifting back to the familiar cycle. He always started off interested - invested, even - but the second someone made him wait, hesitated, or seemed too detached, he felt the urge to pull away. It was easier that way. It was safer.

"I'll think about it," Minho said, though the noncommittal tone was enough to make Hyunjin roll his eyes.

"Sure you will," Hyunjin muttered before sipping his latte again.

And Minho? He just smiled.

Or: Minho decides to take Hyunjin's advice for once and give the hot, single-parent principal at his new school a chance --well, a second chance.
