Clarice 'Clari' Hale is a mess. She's conflicted and pessimistic with a tarnished reputation and an unstable career. Her Dad is a bigshot celebrity who doesn't have the time of day to give her and her mother, who has fallen into substance abuse and chronic noseyness. While looking for a cheap diversion to distract her from her lowlife haze, she finds an art class in the city, where she meets Emile, a French senior art student who sees the world as a kaleidoscope and every blank surface as a canvas, including her heart.
