In the summer of 1989, the small, sun-scorched town of Coyote Creek, Nevada, feels more like a trap than a home for fourteen-year-old Cal. People vanish here-no warnings, no traces, no answers. When Cal's best friend, Mike, becomes the latest disappearance, grief turns to determination. He refuses to accept what the adults call "just the way things are."
But then the voice starts. Mike's voice, calling out to Cal from the corners of his mind, begging for help. Mike is alive - Cal is sure of it.
