In the sprawling, divided city of Neo-Haven, Avalonia, the stark contrast between the opulent Upper Neo-Haven and the crime-ridden slums of Lower Neo-Haven is a daily reality. Renee, a resident of the lower depths, finds himself thrust into a dangerous situation when he intervenes to stop a mugging. Using his powers, he saves the victim but inadvertently reveals his status as a Conduit-a human mutated by Dark Aether, a mysterious energy from another realm. Despite his heroic act, the public's deep-seated fear and distrust of Conduits lead to his immediate arrest.

Detained and facing an uncertain future, Renee is approached by Cobra, a mysterious man representing the Crosstech Corporation. Cobra offers Renee a way out: join an experimental task force dedicated to combating the shadow creatures emerging from Limbo, a chaotic dimension threatening the Overworld. With little choice and the promise of greater purpose, Renee reluctantly agrees, unaware that he is stepping into a web of corruption and deceit.
