Long story short, Varian dies via the moon stone and is sent to hell for what the moonstone demon made him do while he had control over V's body. Hugo, an absolute mess after his lovers death is set on finding a way back to his lost love, no matter what it takes.

Lost and Found
Hugo never really questioned where he came from. He didn't have a reason to. The area he grew up in was riddled with orphans. The people were far too busy to look up who his parents were before they probably died horribly like everyone else in this godforsaken town. Whatever. It didn't matter to him. All that mattered was survival, and then, after escaping the town with Donella, pleasing her. He had a family. It wasn't blood. He was content with that. Which is of course, when it all goes to shit. Varian and the Seven Kingdoms (Varian's Seven Trials)
This is my take on the idea of a Varian spin-off series of Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. The AU was presented to Disney by storyboarders Kay Ritter and Anna Lencioni who took a liking to Varian's character and decided to create a story for him in his later years; detailing the adventures he might go on and the friends he makes along the way. I'll likely take a lot of inspiration from other fans too and I think that's what's great about vat7k, we all inspire each other with our ideas! :) This is probably gonna be a long one, hope you enjoy!!
