It all seemed to happen in slow motion.

The person turned back towards them and Harry's breath caught in his throat as he was met with the bluest eyes he had ever seen. No, not just blue, otherworldly blue. He was certain he'd never encountered this particular shade of blue in his life.

He felt James nudge him, but it didn't matter, he was lost, hypnotized, completely under the spell of those eyes. He could hear someone screaming faintly, but for the life of him, he couldn't move.

It wasn't until several voices registered and James slapped him on the back of the head that he snapped back to reality.
