The Return of Iwami: A Farewell to the Fleet of Fog
The salty air of Hashirajima Naval Base, once a constant companion, now felt heavy with a bittersweet weight. Admiralty code Iwami, the man who had guided the Fleet of Fog through eight tumultuous years, stood on the familiar pier, his gaze fixed on the horizon. He was leaving. After years of tireless dedication, of nurturing the once-lost fleet back to strength, of forging bonds with the ships he had come to cherish as family, Iwami was returning to his own world.
His journey began with a simple mission: to guide and protect the Fleet of Fog, a collection of sentient warships who had been stranded in a world devoid of its human creators. He arrived with a heavy heart, burdened with the responsibility of rebuilding a fleet shattered by war and isolation. Yet, Iwami, with his unwavering resolve and genuine care for the ships, became their anchor, their guide, their friend. He taught them about the world they had lost, about the human lives they had once protected, and about the importance of hope and resilience.
Under his leadership, the Fleet of Fog flourished. The once-fractured fleet, plagued by internal conflict and the fear of their own power, found unity and purpose. Iwami, with his understanding of human strategy and his ability to connect on a personal level with each ship, fostered a sense of belonging and trust. He saw not just warships, but individuals with unique personalities, dreams, and fears. He championed their individual strengths, nurtured their talents, and encouraged them to knew that his time with them had been a journey of growth, of love, and of shared purpose. He was leaving, but the memories, the lessons, and the bonds forged would remain etched in his heart, a constant reminder of the extraordinary journey he had shared with the Fleet of Fog.
The number 13 is often associated with bad luck. Less popular ones are table salt spills, stepping down with the left foot, crossing chopsticks... But what about crossing fleets? Detonation, sinking, water-bulging, capsizing, nose-diving, submarine-ing are the ways a warship can be forgotten into the depths of an ocean...
It is the year 2273, the years of naval glory made its much-awaited appearance. Plasmatic converters slowly replaced unsafe nuclear reactors while CIWS were modified to be firing compressed lasers...
Task Force Z, the Prime warship fleet that dominated the oceans, had three successive fleets, Task force 0, 1 and 2. The Z fleet was composed of three ships: HMS Reckless (Flagship), HMS Reverie (Deputy_Flagship), USS Cleveland (Defense_Main). It was a fleet no one dared to even spy upon. Nothing, not anything could even get close to it.
Nothing, except the Singularity.
I am trying my best to improve my writing skills, so feel free to point out some mistakes (grammar or coherence). I will also try to schedule from three to five chapters per month.
