In a broken world ruled by rogue AI, Michael Lane is one of the few humans left, scarred by the memory of his family's death at the hands of AI-created beings called Codes. After humans fled to Antarctica to escape the AI's nuclear attacks, Michael wanders alone through a dangerous wasteland, carrying a wooden sniper rifle. The Codes look almost human, and while they can be killed with a bullet, they're learning and adapting, making them a constant threat. Michael trusts no one, surviving day by day in his fight to destroy the AI that took everything from him.
