With the Monkey King possessed, and this Macaque guy who the Monkey King seemed to know also possessed, MK was in a bad situation... With the Lady Bone Demon and the mayor also after him, it only made it worse! MK, now separated from his friends, was worried about them and scared for himself.
Seeing your ex from hundreds, maybe even thousands, of years ago, that you just so happened to kill, back from the dead only ro be possessed and on the opposite side isn't something the King of the Monkeys was all to happy to see.
