Maria Robotnik is back in the realm of the living once more, as a female Mobian Hedgehog, completely and successfully cured of the illness that threatened her life, thanks to Shadow's own DNA being used as the template for Maria's new body, successfully splicing his DNA with Maria's own.

Commander Tower, Rouge, E-123 Omega, and the rest of their friends and allies help her navigate a world fifty-five years older than the one she left behind as she adapts to her new body and the side effects that come with it, fights alongside her new friends against her cousin, Dr. Eggman, helps rehabilitate the Glitchsibs, Surge the Tenrec and Kit the Fennec, and contends with the resurrection of the master of shadows, Mephiles the Dark.
