Book #15
Nao's Silent Betrayal
Nao was the only child in her family. Her father resented her simply because she was a girl and, in his eyes, could never be a true heir. To rid himself of any responsibility for her, he arranged her marriage to a man named Mateo Laurenx, whose family had recently fallen into bankruptcy. Uninterested in Nao and unconvinced of her abilities, especially in business, her father had no hesitation in casting her out.
Nao harbored deep resentment toward her father for the harsh decision but had little choice except to join Mateo in his family's fading world. Once known as one of the richest and most influential men globally, Mateo had watched his family's fortune crumble due to his father's gambling addiction. Most of their assets were sold, leaving only a lonely mansion and a struggling company on the brink of closure.
When Mateo brought Nao to the mansion, it became clear that they were completely isolated. The Laurenx name had become infamous, surrounded by dark rumors of violence, making the mansion a place others feared to approach.
With Mateo taking charge of the failing family business, hoping to rebuild what his father had lost, he spent most of his time working, leaving Nao alone. Intelligent, strong, and mysterious, Mateo was focused solely on his work, determined to restore his family's reputation. While many women were drawn to him, he was indifferent, committed to resurrecting the company through sheer will and skill.
In her solitude, Nao encounters a stranger who lingers around the mansion, especially when Mateo is away. Azi Carospe becomes a presence she never expected, a man who brings her the attention and companionship she lacks. Drawn to him, she finds herself facing an impossible choice.
Will Nao resist her growing feelings for Azi, or will she continue down a path of betrayal against Mateo, a man loyal to her?
