The Edwardian era, which roughly spanned from 1901 to 1915, left an enduring legacy on the world of fine jewelry, particularly in the realm of engagement rings. Known for their elegance, refinement, and intricate detailing, Edwardian engagement rings remain a popular choice for those seeking a romantic and timeless aesthetic. These rings, often handcrafted with meticulous artistry, are distinguished by their light, airy designs, use of platinum, and delicate filigree work. Here, we'll explore the key characteristics and popular styles that make Edwardian engagement rings a coveted choice among antique jewelry enthusiasts.

1. The Rise of Platinum and Its Role in Edwardian Jewelry
One of the most defining aspects of Edwardian jewelry, including engagement rings, is the use of platinum. During this period, advancements in metalworking allowed jewelers to work with platinum, a metal that is both strong and malleable, making it perfect for delicate designs. Platinum's durability allowed jewelers to create intricate settings with an almost lace-like appearance, giving rings an ethereal, airy quality.https://boylerpf.com/

Medieval England - Year 1450: Eleanor was a poor shopkeeper's daughter whose only hope for a better life for herself and her family was to marry well. When she caught the eye of Thomas Fletcher, a royal courtier of noble blood, her family thought he was the answer to all their problems. Eleanor thought he was unattractive and rude, but she didn't have any better options as a poor commoner so she accepted his proposal. They just had to somehow convince King Henry that she was a suitable bride for Thomas so he would approve of their union, because marrying Thomas meant that she would join Henry's inner circle as a courtier. At just twenty three years old Henry had to take over as the King of England when his father passed away unexpectedly. On his first day presiding over the royal court, he was faced with a tough decision, should he approve Thomas' marriage to Eleanor, a commoner that he was almost certain was unfit to join his Royal Court? He decided the only fair way to decide was to have her stay at his castle for a week as his guest so he could see for himself if she had what it took to withstand the pressure of the life of a royal courtier. What King Henry didn't count on was the feelings that started to grow for that commoner throughout the week. She was already betrothed to someone else and even if she wasn't, a King could never marry a commoner. But he also couldn't ignore the growing need he felt inside to be with her, even if it would throw his country into a civil war and turn both of their lives upside down. He knew some things were worth fighting for. (COMPLETED) It's 1817 and there is nothing more a woman wants than to marry a rich man and live a life of comfort. But not Nancy Brooks. Having spent half her life helping her mother run her laundry shop and the other half in the local library, Nancy knows what she wants, and it is not a life spent looking for the perfect suitor. Things take a turn when she delivers clothes to one of the schools she always dreamed of attending and ends up saving the day. Lord Andrew Montgomery rules almost every place he sets foot in-one of the perks of being the son of the most powerful duke of the time-and this includes Oxford. Violent and aggressive, he vows to make the life of every student who dares defy him miserable. However, when he targets the new (and first) girl at Oxford, his obsession becomes a little more than just making her life miserable. It began, he would later speculate, with a shout: the simple sound of someone shouting at him-for the first time in his life. It began, she would later speculate, with a catch: the simple movement of strong arms, breaking her fall, catching her midway. But after that, there would come many more events, and ones not too keen on bringing them together. What will they do when a powerful duchess steps in, when it seems every person is working to keep them apart? This is a story of betrayal and love, because they are not so different after all...

A Stolen Life

35 parts Complete

The only goal in life is to stay alive. Think about it, it's true. Some people just can't accomplish it while others barely pass with each passing day and a small percent excel at accomplishing it. For some people it's an easy task and they can look to other things, but for others it is a daily struggle. For me and my family it's a daily struggle. My name is Rose Loera and I am 19 years old. I am three months away from being forced into the military like every other unemployed Bronze in the world. Bronzes are those in the world who bleed that color, have no special powers, and are forced to lead their lives in squalor. Bronze lives in the dirt while the Silvers rule the nation with their amazing powers. Their powers are the only reason Bronzes still live like we do, we're too scared. But I'm not scared of much, I'm a thief, fear could get me killed. But one night I stole from the wrong person, I stole from the prince. Yeah see that wasn't really the problem, he gave me money and even rewarded me. What went wrong was what happened later, when I and every noble in my country discovered that I, a Bronze, have the power of a Silver, actually my power isn't even something they have heard of. That is when my life was taken from me.
