They say the eyes are the window to the soul. To take an eye is to to reach through that window. They say one's mirror image reflects what hides in the depths of one's soul. To take a reflective eye is to keep what is hidden inside. Seattle, Washington isn't known for high crime rates. The annual body count in terms of homicide barely touches 20. It's easy going for anyone within the Seattle PD. Or at least it was... A serial killer has left four bodies in four months, the last one found Christmas Eve. Each body as clueless as the last. But if Seattle PD thought this serial killer was their only problem, come the night before New Year's Eve they will be in for a rude awakening as a fresh new kind of kill is left on the side of a street corner like yesterday's trash. Soon secrets will come to the surface, emotions will boil over, and the worst kind of betrayal will cost someone their life if they aren't careful. To catch a killer, think like a killer. And always remember... Appearances are everything.

While being chased by her abusive boyfriend, Lyla turns the tables, shoving him into the path of an oncoming car. But rather than calling the police, she and her friend, Jack bury the body deep in the woods. Instead of finishing her senior year in peace, Lyla is horrified to discover that her dead ex has returned for revenge. This genre-bending supernatural thriller weaves elements of murder mystery, romance, high school drama, humor, and, of course, a terrifying ghost story. (Excerpt from "Her Terrifying Love") Jack's chest heaved. "You said he was dead." Lyla inched closer and whispered, "He had no pulse!" "Maybe he was just stunned." "We carried him all that way," she said. "He wasn't breathing." "But maybe he woke up after we left him down there." "Woke up?! His neck was broken." Jack hung his head. He couldn't make sense of this. "I know how this is gonna sound, but..." He choked on his words. "When I went to pick up my car from the body shop yesterday, he was standing across the street. Watching me." "Who was?!" "Keenan. I swear to God." "No way," she asserted. "That's crazy talk. He's dead." "It was him." Jack nodded. "He had a frickin' giant tattoo on his neck." A shiver flashed down Lyla's spine. Jack confirmed what she'd been dreading. He'd been seeing the ghost, too.
