The fleeting trip I decided to take last spring with my camera, friends, and Egypt and Jordan was going to combine ancient ruins and unforgettable views.

I started my travel in Cairo where the sun rises over the great Pyramids of Giza. Being in their presence I got the feeling of a sort of reverence. I walked around the city, walking around vendors that were selling freshly made falafel, and enjoying refreshing mint tea from a nearby café. Every chewing was a signal of the reliable culture surrounding it.

Subsequently, I sailed on the Nile in a felucca - the bobbling of the boat perfectly echoing the unconcern of the water. Looking around at the sunset which created rather warm mood of orange and pink among the roofs of Luxor, I realized again how much I liked temples there. The hieroglyphs felt as if they were telling us more than we needed to know about the civilization that once roamed this land.

Getting into Jordan, I was charmed by the rose-red city of Petra. Mere steps as I walked through the Siq, I was elated to get my first glance of the Treasury, carving intricately in the sunlight. I wandered in the relevant archeological areas for many hours, finally being able to conjecture the residents' lives.

Wadi Rum was next-a place of giant sand ridges and sand masses of fascinating sandstone formations. A few people I met were wise enough to hitch a ride with a jeep, even though people were laughing while driving fast on the sand. I spent it sleeping in tents and telling fairy tales around this fire surrounded by my new friends and now I'm feeling a strong bond with this fantastic country.
