Europe is once again embroiled in a world war. When the Nazis invade Lithuania, Lina Grace's life is turned upside down. The Jews of Vilna are herded into ghettos and forced to wear the yellow star. Inside the ghetto, Lina works with poets and scholars to save important texts from German destruction.
With War on the lookout for her, Lina Grace escapes to America. But America too, is gearing up for war. She joins the Army Nurse Corps only to be sent to train with the paratroopers as a combat medic.
As War and Death ravage the world, Lina Grace learns that not everyone makes it out of war unscathed.
