Carmen Riviera lives in a world where every 7 seconds, a person finds their soul mate. It happened to her parents, it happened to her best friend, and as of late, it happened to her sister.
The only person left is Carmen herself, and most of her loved ones aren't sure as to why it's taken so long for her to find the man of her dreams.
But what they don't know is that Carmen already has.

When she saw A.J. Locke behind the safety of a closet door two years ago, Carmen felt the familiar flutter and swoon of meeting one's soul mate. But almost immediately, the feeling passes, and Carmen becomes terrified of a having a future she can't control. So she makes it her mission in life to avoid A.J. until the day she dies, pursuing her dreams in the process.

But fate refuses to let bygones be bygones, and makes sure Carmen and A.J.'s path's intertwine, forcing the two youths to come to terms with their own anxieties.
