But today on Halloween, the owner will be introducing them to the new animatronic that will make the festival more entertainment. And the new animatronic are the Upgraders. And Spyro's friends don't appreciate the owner of the festival for using the Upgraders as the animatronic. And so did Spyro because he's not very too well with Formeleon, Silther's Cyber-Dragon, after everything he did. But his childrens, Nina and Zoran, were excited their first time on Halloween and going to the festival but Spyro was worried that Formeleon might be alive just as when something went wrong and the owner was saying it was just a glitch. Was it a glitch or not? Or one of the animatronic came back alive and seeking revenge on the Skylanders. This is the Halloween Special, that will bring back the nightmare.

This story takes place in the Dragon Realm, one of many realms throughout the known universe, and two dragon eggs are about to hatch. These two dragon eggs are Spyro and Cynder both of which grew up in two different parts of the Dragon Realm. Spyro grew up in the Dragon Temple training to become the next Dragon Guardian. While Cynder grew up in the Dark Temple deep within the Shattered Mountains of Arc-kana where the Dark Dragon Lord Galventer was training her to be evil. However, Cynder doesn't want to be evil, Galventer took notice of this and cast an evil forbidden spell on her and turned her into Dark Cynder. When Dark Cynder was sent on an assassination mission to eliminate the next Dragon Guardian, Spyro, she faced Spyro in a fight but Spyro could tell that Dark Cynder's real self was still inside her.
